THE FOUR STAGES

A Journey Through Growth

Every learner progresses through four interconnected stages β€” each building on the last, each grounded in how the brain actually learns.

Safety, belonging, and psychological readiness. The brain cannot learn under threat β€” this stage establishes the neurological foundation for all future growth.

THEORETICAL FOUNDATION

Three Frameworks, One Model

The NeuroEcosystem Model doesn't stack frameworks on top of each other β€” it integrates them at the structural level.

SDT

Self-Determination Theory

Deci & Ryan's foundational theory of human motivation. The model operationalizes autonomy, competence, and relatedness as non-negotiable conditions for deep learning β€” not aspirational goals.

UDL

Universal Design for Learning

CAST's framework for flexible, accessible instruction. The model embeds multiple means of representation, action, and engagement as structural design principles, not accommodations added after the fact.

CRI

Culturally Responsive Instruction

Geneva Gay's and Zaretta Hammond's work on culture and cognition. The model treats cultural context as cognitive infrastructure β€” not a supplement β€” because the brain encodes meaning through cultural frames.
